Prioritizing Women’s Health with the HPV Vaccine

The Obstetrics & Gynecology department at Wisdom Hospital, Pune, is committed to women’s health at every stage of life. A crucial aspect of our preventive care is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine

This vaccine protects against certain strains of HPV, which are known to cause various health issues. It is recommended for preteens and young adults, ideally between the ages of 11 and 26. The HPV vaccine is most effective when administered before any potential exposure to the virus.

The recommended schedule typically involves two doses for ages 9-14 and three doses for ages 15-26. HPV vaccination significantly reduces the risk of cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers in women and also provides protection against genital warts caused by HPV in both men and women.
